Celtics' Robert Williams Returns After Knee Surgery

The Boston Celtics officially confirmed on Friday afternoon that center Robert Williams III will resume his basketball rehearsal in eight to twelve weeks after getting an operation done on his left knee. The medical procedure was performed to "remove loose bodies and address swelling in his left knee," and this is the second knee surgery Williams has had to get done in this calendar year.

Williams is one of the most impactful defensive players in the NBA, and an integral element of Boston's choking league-leading defense. However, his delayed comeback to basketball activities in eight to 12 weeks would keep him out until at least Thanksgiving, and probably until after Christmas. Williams, who will hit the 25-years-old mark next month, averaged a stunning 10 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in a career-high 61 games for Boston Celtics in the 2021 season; his fourth season in the NBA.
