James Bazley and Xavier Bartlett motivated Brisbane Heat to bag a 14-run win on New year. The Heat duo staged a coup against Hobart Hurricanes as Bazley scored 44 runs from 27 balls while Bartlett collected 4 for 30 and reduced Hurricanes to 136-8 at the end of 20 overs. Hurricanes’ chase did not go as planned when Bartlett scalped four wickets of their top order giving away just 30 runs.
The win helps Heat climb into the fifth place enjoying a four-point lead over sixth-place Melbourne Stars with a two-game advantage as well. Hurricanes on the other hand stayed third on the table four points away from second-place Perth Scorchers. Bazley’s late cameo helped Heat find some stability as he hit three fours and two sixes and Heat reached a defendable target of 151 after their initial collapse.
