Kolkata Knight Riders outmatched Mumbai Indians despite the Jasprit Bumrah’s maiden five-wicket haul and posted a 52-run win in the Indian Premier League. This season’s worst-performing team, MI managed to restrict KKR to an achievable 165 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana still kept the KKR boat sailing with both knocking 43 runs. But Mumbai batters failed to make an impact in their inning except for Ishan Kishan who knocked 43-ball 51 and soon were bundled out within 17.3 overs and could manage just 113 runs in response.
KKR’s Tim Southee and Pat Cummins, shared four wickets between themselves and Andre Russell chipped in as well with a few wickets as well. A win or loss would still not have changed the outcome for MI who are out of the playoff race this season while KKR proudly showcases five wins from their 12 games.
