Saul Niguez is on his way back to Atletico Madrid as his loan agreement with Blues comes to an end. The midfielder joined Chelsea back in 2021 during the summer transfer window on a season-long loan. As per the agreement between Blues and Colcheneros, a deal was struck for a £3.4m loan fee with a chance to permanently sign the player for £30m.
The Spain International struggled at Stamford Bridge and fell down the midfield pecking order in Premier League. He even failed to be a reliable rotation option for Thomas Tuchel making just 12 starts in 23 appearances for the side. After the slow showing, the 27-year-old is making his way back to Atletico Madrid after Chelsea refused to exercise their option to buy the player.
