French striker Karim Benzema had all the freedom he wanted from Real Madrid to decide when to have tests on the injury he suffered in the Champions League game against Celtic.
However, he had to wait for the inflammation to reduce in the hamstring area, where he felt discomfort which made him ask to be replaced. Benzema wanted the test to take place this Wednesday.
In addition, Benzema agreed for the medical report to be made public after Real Madrid gave the player the option.
The tests revealed that Benzema suffers a semitendinosus muscle and a quadriceps muscle strain so he will miss the upcoming fixtures.
Benzema will be out for the fixtures with Mallorca and Leipzig at least and he will try and be available for the Madrid derby against Atletico at the Metropolitano stadium on 18th September although his presence against Atletico is not at all certain.
