Instagram's Most Influential Player - Ronaldo or Messi?

Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been confirmed as the most influential footballer on Instagram because of his play at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He is followed by his forever rival Lionel Messi then Neymar and Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain. Ronaldo saw a 47% increase in followers in the past year, and he also averages more than $3.5 million in media value per post. Contemporary Manchester United player Jadon Sancho is named as the most influential English player. 

Ronaldo garners 480 million followers while Messi is nearly behind with 361 million followers on Instagram. Ronaldo is preceded by the Paris Saint-Germain killer trio of Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe. Looks like the three are owning the game off the field as well. The fellow players ranked second, third and fourth, respectively. Each of them averages more than $1 million per post. Neymar has 178 million followers and Mbappe has 72.5 million followers.
