Ligue 1: Montpellier loses to Lille

Drowning in injuries and suspensions, Montpellier suffered throughout the first half at La Mosson stadium but was fortunate enough to open the scoring against the run of play after 20 minutes when Elye Wahi cleverly beat goalkeeper Leo Jardim. Before that, Lille smashed the woodwork twice and domineered the advancement. The northern side kept pushing and and achieved an equalizer four minutes before the break as Jonathan David converted an assist from Remy Cabella into a goal.

The second half was a lot more lopsided. Lille monopolized the ball and turned its assertion into a second goal in the 57th minute, along with Cabella shooting another decisive pass to Angel Gomes. David then finished a brace in added time with a left-footed angled shot, taking his season’s tally to four.
